PAYPAL ONLY!! U. S. postcard dated July 1, 1936, honoring the commissioning of the gunboat USS Erie. Commissioning took place at the famous Brooklyn Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York, and the card is postmarked aboard ship; then the card was mailed to Whittier, California and has a July 6 CDS of receipt. A nice early WWII vintage card. (NOTE TO NAVAL HISTORY BUFFS: The Erie was torpedoed by U-163 -- German U-boat -- near Curacao on November 12, 1942. It was towed to a friendly harbor where it capsized. It was never repaired.)
WE SELL THE UNUSUAL. CHECK OUT OUR OTHER LISTINGS.
